CELL Phone Policy Update-
Recently, the Parkside staff reviewed cell phone usage and safety with the adults and students on campus. The following guidelines and consequences were carefully chosen to support the safety of the students, and to prevent any misuse of texting, photos or social media.
General Telephone Guidlines:
Use of the office telephone is limited to cases of emergency and then only with the permission of office personnel. During school hours, students must have a pass to the office to use the phone. Phone call messages to students during the school hours are inappropriate and disruptive.
Personal Cell Phone Guidelines:
Before and after school outside of school buildings
In class, as permitted by classroom teacher for instructional purposes
Not Allowed: (Including earbuds, headphones)
Inside a school building (Classroom, Locker rooms, Hallways, Gym, Office, Cafeteria, etc.)
During school hours, 8:15-2:51 (1:50 Thursdays)
During passing time or lunch time
Progressive Discipline actions will be followed should a student be out of compliance-
1st Offense: Phone will be turned in and then picked up by student at the end of day either in the office or with the adult staff member that has it.
2nd Offense: Phone will be turned in and picked up by the parent in the office* after school.
3rd Offense: Phone will be checked into and out of the office*, daily.
Note* Phones will be turned off while the in the office at all times.
